LYRICS

HARD TO FIND

I got a call from a friend of mine
She was crying just the other night
Some guy had said some things that hurt her
She needed someone to tell her everything’s alright

I said: ‘I’ll be there for you like you were for me’
It seemed the only thing that I could say
Though I couldn’t promise anything like that
I had made my plans to go away, and she said:

CHORUS 1
‘Don’t you leave me behind
Please don’t you leave me behind
Keep me on your mind
Don’t you leave me behind
Cause I think a friend like you is hard to find’

I was on my way home for the last time
I had my things packed up and ready to leave
Yet the sound of her voice made me guilty
Thoughts of abandonment could not be conceived

CHORUS 2
I will not leave her behind
I will not leave her behind
She’s on my mind
I just can’t leave her behind
Cause I think a friend like her is hard to find

MIDDLE
Would she drop everything to come away with me?
When she has so much left to lose?
Time for her to choose

COMING SOON

I’m sitting on the fence, watching the trains roll by
The light is fading and the sun is low in the sky
I’m still waiting on your wagon to come travelling through
You said that you would meet me by the lake in Seven Blue
But that wasn’t true

It’s getting too cold out, the leaves are turning to brown
I wait in the faint hope, that you will still be coming down
But there’s a chill in my heart it may be the autumn breeze
And my undying devotion is killing me like a disease
Come home baby please

BRIDGE
In the fading light of the Open Arms
I forget your face and your well-used charms
I can’t remember what it was that brought us here
Or what keeps us apart

CHORUS
It’s been so long, our favourite place has changed its name
My hair is growing silver daily, I think by summer none will remain
I will stay here, I hope you’re coming soon

I decide to get down, it’s time that I was heading home
I have to live with the fact that you are happier on your own
No use pretending, this town has got a hold on me
I think of you as I live here, everytime I see a rock or tree
It’s got a hold on me

WE HAD A GOOD TIME

I traced my lifeline to the water again
I missed the boat with someone's daughter and then
We took a walk down to the end of the pier
Where the wrecks of galleons disappear

BRIDGE
And we had a good time though you couldn't tell
This would be the last time I'd be under your spell
I would leave the next day and never return
What have you learned since I've been gone?

I took her hand and held it tight in mine
We let our fingers intertwine
She whispered something into my ear
Told me I had nothing else left to fear

BRIDGE

CHORUS
Why don't you tell me what's been going on?
Did you miss me, should I come home?
Would you kiss me cos you're all alone?

MY MEMORY

Someone told me you’ve never been there

Yet you said there was nothing for me there

Should I believe the lies you’re telling?

Or feel sorry for the tear that’s welling?

CHORUS 1

Take me with you, when you go

If you’re leaving baby let me know

I won’t get lost there if you are with me

Guide us with your made up memory

I can see the look on both of your faces

Desperation I can see faint traces

When I look at you I look right through you

Sometimes I wish that I never knew you

CHORUS 1

CHORUS 2

You gotta come with me it’s the only way

Nothing to learn baby nothing to say

It’s time we were leaving, you and me

Or will you just stay in my memory?

Or will you just stay in my memory?

Or will you just stay in my memory?

THERE’S A BOMB IN THE CITY

People are walking the streets in fear

Thinking their children may disappear

If they put them to school on a public bus

Do they want to be the parent who caused a fuss?

People of Britain want a holy war

Yet what they already have, is what they’re fighting for

Confusion abounds in minds so young

Which soaks up poison; a trap well sprung

CHORUS

There’s a bomb in the city ready to explode

Taking lives and freedom on some random road

They’re not too choosy about who they kill

They twist religion to do God’s will

Suspicious glances follow men around

As they commute to work on the underground

There’s no such thing as a terrorist suit

There must be no doubt if cops decide to shoot

Panic has a habit of dying away

It makes time for people to be led astray

Let’s enemies strike while the guard is down

We’re aiding their wish; creating a ghost town

CHORUS

Where do we go from here, we’re at an all-time low

We hate neighbours that we used to love to know

It’s gonna get worse, before it improves

We have to limit the way true evil moves

What kind of country did we create,

We let our friends become the ones we hate?

Maybe when this whole thing’s said and done

There’ll be no winners if nothing’s left to be won

BLACK RIBBON

She watches life through a broken window

Rain lashes across her bed

She curls up tight, seems to keep the frost out

And dreams of something else instead

It’s been two weeks since the world fell in

And let the weather creep in from outside

Now she’s looking forward to the summer’s end

To the chill that only death can provide

She rolls over, smiles, though it’s bitter-sweet

She wears one glove for two hands, two socks on cold feet

And though she’s known all along it was over

She’ll come back again, to try again

As she steps over pieces of broken glass

She sees a picture lying cracked by the door

She gets a flashback to a family party

Knows she’s never had a birthday before

So she imagines what it’s like to be the special one

The girl who gets to blow the candles out

And if she could just get it just once her way

She’d be in heaven already no doubt

She’d wear a black ribbon in her hair

She’d have a hiding place under the stair

And though she’d known all along it was over

She’d come back again, to try again

To try again

Come back again

To try again

Come back again

SIX POINT ZERO

You wander about like some desperate case

I try in vain to put a smile on your face

God put your mouth on the wrong way round

Traded your voice for a negative sound

It’s the best way to get a cold shot to the head

A sure-fire quick trick for a faceful of lead

Six point zero, six point zero

From the degenerates housing for a new world order

To the war machine that deletes the border

Six point zero, six point zero

Your eyes tell the story, the hurt deep within

You can hide your scars but not the sufferin’

I can really help you to face your fears

But you mustn’t drown me in your pool of tears

And so they burned all the records of the things that were bad

Put up a shrine to a hero that they never had

Six point zero, six point zero

Plant a cross in the ground and then set it alight

There are reflections of hatred in red eyes tonight

Six point zero, six point zero

It’s the best way to get a cold shot to the head

A sure-fire quick trick for a faceful of lead

Six point zero, six point zero

From the degenerates housing for a new world order

To the war machine that deletes the border

Six point zero, six point zero

Six point zero, six point
